Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will work closely with students who have IEPs, providing support and assistance in the classroom, in small groups, or through progress monitoring. Your role will be crucial in helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.

Duties:

- Assist students with mild to moderate special needs in their daily activities, including academic tasks, and social interactions in an inclusive/resource setting.

- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.

- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce learning concepts.

- Support students in developing appropriate behavior and social skills.

- Assist with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.

- Help students with organization and time management skills.

- Monitor and document student progress, behaviors, and achievements.

- Assist in the implementation of accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs.

- Collaborate with parents/guardians to ensure continuity of support between home and school.

-Able to provide solid instruction under the direction of the special education teacher for intervention groups and individuals

-Able to receive coaching and demonstrate competency in managing student behaviors; using CHAMPs/DSC to support positive classroom management

Experience:

- Previous experience working with special education programs.

- Familiarity with Deaf education is a plus.

- Experience working in a classroom or childcare setting is highly desirable.

- Knowledge of behavior management techniques is beneficial.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective collaboration with teachers, parents, and other professionals.

- Ability to adapt to the individual needs of each student is crucial.

*Starting pay rate will be determined after a review of the work experience, education, licensures, etc. pertaining to the field provided on the job application depending upon previous and relevant work experience.

*Staff is assigned based on case load to James Irwin Charter Schools on the same campus to maximize student learning and access to the curriculum.
