Assistant Librarian
ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN
Position Narrative:
The Assistant Librarian assists the school Librarian with all tasks required to effectively run a library, such as organizing materials and helping students find resources.
Reports to: Librarian
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Assist Librarian in all required duties
- Maintains student library use records and accounts
- Shelves books and other library materials
- Support students in locating resources
- Assist as needed in student assessment testing
- Assists with ordering curriculum, books, library subscriptions, etc.
- Supervise classes and/or students coming into the library to work
- Uphold the school expectations and procedures for students while in the library
- Other duties as assigned
- Communicate and enforce library policies
- Supervises students in the library
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent office administration skills; including written and oral communications skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, students and parents
Ability to operate standard office equipment
Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer programs
Ability to work efficiently under minimum supervision
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Minimum work experience and education:
High School diploma or equivalent degree
